O presente artigo se constitui a partir do relato de experiência de um trabalho em extensão universitária, dado através da investigação e da reflexão do ambiente dialogado com o desenvolvimento local, tendo este como parâmetro fundamental do crescimento do sujeito como aquele que constrói a vida.
Este artigo se apropria das oficinas de Educação Ambiental e de Trilhas, realizadas dentro do curso de Capacitação em Cooperativismo e Autogestão, produzido pelo Núcleo de Economia Alternativa da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Este curso foi realizado junto a Cooperativa Mista de Produção e Serviços Arquipélago Ltda. (COOPAL), localizada na Ilha Grande dos Marinheiros, uma ilha do município de Porto Alegre, com objetivo de instrumentalizar os membros desta cooperativa na gestão e fortalecimento do empreendimento, de forma que o mesmo se configure em um elemento multiplicador em sua comunidade.
A compreensão da produção de vida, eu e nós no espaço vivido, o aprofundamento das relações sociais e a ampliação dos horizontes oportunizando novas frentes de trabalho, com a ótica do turismo responsável e da economia solidária, foram os temas referenciais destes encontros.

This article presents an account of a university extensional work developed through the investigation and reflection about the dialogue between environment and local development, taking the last as a fundamental parameter of the subject’s growth as the one who constructs life.
The article takes into consideration the workshops about Environmental Education and Trail promoted by the Alternative Economy Center of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) as part of the course Cooperativeness and Self-Management. The course was designed for the Mixed Cooperative of Production and Services Arquipélago (COOPAL), located in Ilha Grande dos Marinheiros, an island in the city of Porto Alegre. The aim of the course was to enlighten the cooperative’s members to manage and straighten their enterprise for it to become a multiplying element in their community.
The main themes of these encounters were the comprehension of the production of life, of the self and of the collective in the living space, the intensification of social relations and horizons amplification in order to generate work, with the responsible tourism and solidarity economy.
