Tourism and Handicraft in Rio Grande do Sul’s Northern Coast As an alternative for the generation of incomes to fishing communities in Rio Grande do Sul’s Northern Coast, COODESTUR is establishing a Qualification Program in tourism, fish scales and fish leather handicraft. The Program stimulates cooperation and group development through the topics: Quality in Reception, Handicraft and Net Structuring. This project is benefiting about 80 people, helping them to develop their handicraft based in the local fishing identity, as well as inserting their products in the local tourist market. This initiative is being held by COODESTUR in an arrangement with the National Department for Fishing and Aquaculture (SEAP) and the Ministry of Agrarian Development (MDA). The Program is also supported by the Fishing Union of the city of Tramandaí, the Fishing Association of the city of Imbé (ASPEMI) and the correspondent City Halls, as well as by The Committee for Bacia Hidrográfica do Rio Tramandaí. |
